Superclass - The global power elite and the world they are making by David Rothkopf
Besides this book, I really enjoy David's blog on Foreign Policy's site. |

Nixon and Kissinger Partners in Power by Robert Dallek
I've had my eye on this book since I saw it at the Seattle airport. Luckily, a friend of mine sent me a copy. Cold War, power struggles and political maneuvering. All the interesting stuff I like when I'm not pursuing extra curricular sociology studies on power in class structures. |

Chasing Cezanne by Peter Mayle
In between the heavy stuff I enjoy just plain good writing like one of Peter Mayle's little masterpieces.
Next on my reading list is A Good Year, which is also one of mine and my husband's favorite movies. |

The Brethren by Bob Woodward and Scott Armstrong
Without repeating the well deserved and accurate praises quoted on the dust jacket, I have to add, this is an amazing book, a real example of extraordinary investigative reporting. It shows the complexity behind the decision making, the rulings and the published opinions. Truth is more frightening than fiction. The examples of decision making actions relating to specific court cases draws a clear picture of the how un-objective the court is because of its position in real time and place. |

Blackwater by Jeremy Scahill
A great background book on the subject of private contractors in Iraq until such time when we can see the cases about accountability argued in the supreme court. |

The Pentagon Papers
Four hefty volumes of words never meant for public consumption. It's impressive to reflect on the process by which these have reached our eyes since June 13, 1971 when the New York Times bravely published the first installment of the Pentagon Papers, which was soon halted then published by the Washington Post. See "The Brethren" for an inside view of that first court case to address the injunction brought against both newspapers to cease publishing on account of national security. |
